ABOUT IRINA A. OLEVSKY, Esq.

Irina A. Olevsky emigrated from Odessa, Ukraine, to the United States with her parents and her brother at age 11.  Her family was accorded refugee status based on religious persecution.

Irina is the owner and managing attorney of the Law Offices of Irina A. Olevsky, P.C. since 1999.  She concentrates her practice in the areas of Immigration and Social Security Disability law.  Irina represents the interests of individual clients as well as foreign and domestic businesses/corporations before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, U.S. Department of Justice /Immigration Court, Board of Immigration Appeals/Administrative Appeals Unit, U.S. Department of Labor, U.S. Department of State, and U.S. Social Security Administration. 

 

Irina is admitted to practice before the State of New York and before the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. Irina is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) since 1999, Member of the Russian American Bar Association (RABA), and was an appointed member of Judiciary Screening Committee for the Democratic Party in and for Kings County (2014).

 

Irina received her undergraduate degree from the New York University in 1994 with a double Major in Economics and Russian Literature.  She was a member of a Leadership Scholar’s Group and member of Omicron Delta Epsilon, International Honor Society in Economics.  Irina received her law degree from Pace University in 1997 with a Health Law Certificate. 

 

Irina’s current volunteer positions:

 

  • Organizer of various charitable fundraisers including support for colon cancer research;

  • Organizer and host of various professional net-workings;

  • Since 2006 Board member and current Board secretary of the Kings Bay Y Community Center, Brooklyn, NY

  • Since 2009 Executive member of a tripartite community partnership program consisting of young parents from Brooklyn (NY), Holon (Israel) and Munich (Germany)

  • Since 2012 Executive member of partnership between Kings Bay Y Community Center and Turkish Cultural Center in Brooklyn, NY

  • Since 2013 Advisory Board member of Investor’s Bank

  • Since 2013 Advisory Board member of ProfLink™ - a not-for-profit community organization of professionals

  • Since 2017 President of “American Friends of Shamir Medical Center (Assaf Harofeh)" 

 

Irina has engaged in the following community outreach projects:

 

  • Founder and former president of the Aviator Figure Skating Club (August 2007 to August 2012), a not-for profit organization chartered by the U.S. Figure Skating Association

  • Former Member of the Board of Trustees of the Russian American Cultural Center and a former co-organizer of annual Israeli Russian Film Festival (January 2011 to 2012)

  • Former American delegate of America Without Nazism, Inc., a not-for-profit international human rights organization (2011 to 2014)

  • Former President of Temple Sholom (June 2010 to June 2012), Brooklyn, NY

  • Former executive Board member of Temple Sholom (June 2012 to June 2014), Brooklyn, NY

  • Former board member and chair of the Cultural Committee of the American Forum of Russian Jewry (2012 to 2017)

 

Irina received the following awards and honors:

  • 2019 Certificate of Appreciation issued by the Bay Ridge Lawyers Association for presentation of a lecture on most popular Non-Immigrant Employee Visas Utilized by U.S. Employers

  • 2018 Citation issued by the New York State Assembly during the Russian Heritage Month celebration for professional duties, community outreach and continuations

  • 2014 Brooklyn Top Women in Business, Home Reporter and Brooklyn Spectator

  • 2013 Honoree of Temple Sholom’s Diamond Jubilee Dinner Dance
